We’ll start off in the Downloads section of https://eqlsupport.dell.com website. Click on VMware Integration then download Dell EqualLogic Multipathing Extension Module for VMware vSphere version 1.2.
Once downloaded, extract the EqualLogic-ESX-Multipathing-Module.zip archive. The file we’ll need is dell-eql-mem-esx501.2.0.365964.zip.
Use WinSCP or Datastore browser to upload the file to a datastore on the VMware host.
Before proceeding, make sure you put the VMware host you are installing the VIB on in Maintenance Mode.
Download the VMware vSphere CLI (vCLI) installer for Windows. It can be found here. Once installed, click on the Start button, then VMware, VMware vSphere CLI and click on Command Prompt.
In the vSphere CLI command prompt window enter in the following command:
esxcli –server-serverip software vib install –depot /vmfs/volumes/datastore/dell-eql-mem-esx5-184.108.40.2065964.zip
You’ll be prompted to type in appropriate credentials with sufficient privileges on the host. Once applied successfully you’ll see the message show below.
To confirm that the Multipathing Extension Module (MEM) has been installed correctly, in your vSphere client navigate to Configuration, then Storage. Select one of the datastores and click on Properties in the Datastore Details section in the bottom.
In the volume properties window, click on Manage Paths. Note that the Path Selection is now configured as DELL_PSP_EQL_ROUTED.
