Connect to the appliance via a serial cable.
To start the configuration process just type in Setup at the console.
In the Group Manager Setup Utility you’ll need to provide the following information:
- member name
- network interface
- ip address for the network interface
- netmask
- default gateway
If you are adding this member appliance to an existing group, you’ll need to provide the correct group name. Group IP address will be automatically discovered. In addition, you’ll need to provide the previously configured group membership password. Otherwise, just specify the new group name and IP.
Once completed successfully, you’ll see a message that the member is now active in the group.
Start the Equallogic PS Group Manager.
Prior to configuring the member, you want to make sure that the firmware you are running is the same across all of the members in the group. For more details on how to upgrade the firmware of your EQL member array click here.
If you are using out of band management, you are going to want to configure IP addressing information on eth1 interface of the newly added member array. In the PS Group Manager click on the Network tab then double click on the eth1 interface.
Assign the IP address and subnet mask, then check the box next to Enable interface. Next, when prompted to enable the interface click on the Yes button.
Click on the member array (you have just added to the group). You’ll be prompted to configure the management interface and RAID policy.
Alternatively, you can click on the member array name in the window pane on the left, then click on Configure member in the Activities section.
Enter in the array name and choose a storage pool you’d like to use (or create a new one by clicking on Create new pool) then click on the Next button.
In step 2 you can pick the RAID type you want to use on the array, then click Next and then Finish button.
