On one of your servers you’d like to back up, execute the appropriate agent you have downloaded previously. Note that .NET Framework 4.0 is a prerequisite for the AppAssure Agent.
Click on the Next button, then accept the License Agreement.
Install the Prerequisites, then click on the Next button.
Default port AppAssure will use is 8006. If you have firewalls in place in between the Replay Core (AppAssure appliance) and the servers you are backing up (Agents), make sure you allow this traffic through.
Once Agent installation has been completed, you will be prompted to restart the server.
We have noticed that fans in the Dell M1000E chassis we are using occasionally rev up for prolonged periods of time out of the blue.
Fist off, download the Dell customized image of VMware ESXi 5.1 found here. Next, start the virtual console to the blade.
Click on the Virtual Media menu option in top left corner, then select Launch Virtual Media. Make sure that the Mapped checkbox is checked.
In case you haven’t done so already and are experiencing performance related issues with a Dell PowerEdge M620 blade server, you may want to BIOS System Profile Settings.
Download the installer OpenManage Essentials installer package from http://marketing.dell.com/ome-software. When you run the executable it’ll extract the installation files and start the installer.
Check what you’d like to have installed. Dell OpenManage Essentials is checked by default.
You’ll need to meet the prerequisites in order to complete the installation.
To install of the software required, simply click on the hyperlink. You’ll need to install the following:
Configure server with the IIS 7.0 Role
.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
.NET Framework 4
Visual Studio runtime
Microsoft SQL Express 2008 R2 SP1
EMC(R) Navisphere(R) CLI application (NaviCLI)
Once all of the prerequisites have been met, install OME by clicking on the Install Essentials button.
Once installation has been completed successfully you’ll be prompted to start the application. It’ll take you to the web interface on the server you installed it on – http://server:2607/Web/Default.aspx.
If you opted to install Dell SupportAssist at the initial setup menu, you’ll need to install and configure it and complete the registration.
Dell SupportAssist web interface can be reached at http://server:2607/DIS.
Back on the OME web page, we need to complete the initial setup: specify subnets and discovery schedule as well as SNMP settings.
